At the start of 2021, during the third national Covid lockdown when the band could not meet for rehearsals, we made a some recordings, details of which can be found on the 2021 Lockdown 3 Recordings page.
Now that the worst of Covid restrictions are easing, the band has been able to return to giving some performances outside. Brief reports of each event will appear on this page. You can select a record of previous years from the menu.
The first performance of 2021 was at St. Mary’s Church Fete at Pylewell Park on 20th June 2021.
St. Mary’s Church Fete – 20th June 2021 – Pylewell Park
On a pleasantly warm, and as the afternoon progressed sunny afternoon, the band played a varied selection of pieces including marches, film music and golden oldies. It was a pleasure to be performing in front of an audience again.
Bath Road Bandstand – 4th July 2021
On a very breezy day, with torrential downpours interspersed by bright sunshine, the band organised itself in a socially distanced way ready to perform for passers-by. As we started to set up, the showers dispersed and bathed us in glorious sunshine, although the breeze was very persistent. Members of a birthday party in progress on the recreation ground were delighted when we opened with “Happy Birthday”. We played a variety of pieces including some marches, old favourites and medleys of film music. The last photograph shows how strong the breeze was.
